ATP binding site

ATP binding site
(= "A" motif)
A consensus domain found in a number of ATP or GTP-binding proteins, for example ATP synthase, myosin heavy chain, helicases, thymidine kinase, G-protein a -subunits, GTP-binding elongation factors, Ras family. Consensus is: (A or G) -XXXXGK-(S or T) ; this is thought to form a flexible loop (the P-loop) between a -helical and beta pleated sheet domains.
